Aliwal Shoal wurde nicht nur von Jacques Cousteau als einer der 10 besten Tauchplätze der Welt eingestuft, sondern wird von Tauchern auch als zweitbester Tauchplatz bezeichnet, wenn man den etwas holperigen Weg über die Brandung dorthin in Kauf nimmt.
Raggies oder Zahnhaie (auch bekannt als graue Ammenhaie) werden zwischen August und November regelmäßig gesichtet, da sie das Gebiet zur Paarung nutzen. Obwohl sie wie Jäger aus der Tiefe aussehen, sind sie eher sanftmütig. In der Geschichte des Tauchens wurde noch kein einziger Angriff eines Hais verzeichnet. Es ist wahrscheinlicher, dass man sie in der Nähe eines berühmten Gebietes sieht, das als die " Raggie Caves" bekannt ist.
Aber es ist nicht nur die Aussicht, 15 bis 20 Haie auf einmal zu sehen, die Taucher hierher lockt. Auch Mantas, Muränen, riesige Stachelrochen, Süßlippen, Kartoffelzackenbarsche und Schildkröten sind hier zu sehen.
Mit etwas Glück und nur zu bestimmten Zeiten des Jahres können Sie auch auf Delfine, Buckelhaie, Walhaie und Hammerhaie hoffen. Ausgenommen sind die Schwärme von pelagischen Fischen und Korallenfischen, die das 5 km lange Riff oder die Untiefe bevölkern.
Im Sommer liegen die Wassertemperaturen im Durchschnitt bei warmen 24 Grad, während es im Winter nicht viel kälter als 19 Grad wird, da die Untiefe am inneren Rand der Mosambikströmung liegt. Zu den beliebten Tauchplätzen am Aliwal Shoal gehören die Kathedrale - ein beeindruckendes Loch im Riff -, die Pinnacles, die North Sands und die Raggie Cave und Shark Alley.

Sodwana Bay gilt als einer der besten Tauchplätze der Welt und beherbergt die südlichsten tropischen Korallenriffe der Welt, die weiter südlich liegen als das Great Barrier Reef. Das Riff verfügt über einen unglaublich dichten Korallenbewuchs und eine große Vielfalt an Fischen, Krustentieren und vielem mehr - über 1200 Arten wurden in diesem Gebiet gezählt.
Die Bedingungen reichen von idyllisch bis anspruchsvoll, je nach Wind und Strömung. Die Tauchplätze liegen in Tiefen zwischen 10 Metern und Tiefen, die nur für technische Tieftaucher geeignet sind. Der flachste Fund eines Quastenflossers wurde in Sodwana in einer Tiefe von knapp über 100 m gemacht.
Die Riffe in der Sodwana-Bucht sind nach der Entfernung zum Startplatz, Jesser Point, benannt.
Die wichtigsten Riffe sind unterteilt in Quarter Mile, 2 Mile Reef, 5 Mile Reef, 7 Mile Reef und 9 Mile Reef. Und jedes dieser Riffe hat seine eigenen Tauchplätze. Es gibt auch einige isolierte Riffe, die an die Hauptriffe angrenzen, darunter Stringer und Bikini.
Die Artenvielfalt in diesem Gebiet ist phänomenal, von groß bis klein. Zu den saisonalen Besuchern gehören Buckelwale und Mantarochen, während andere wie Delfine, Schildkröten und Walhaie das ganze Jahr über anzutreffen sind. Zu den kleinen "Schmuckstücken" gehören Papierfische, Pfeifenfische, Seepferdchen, Nacktschnecken, Froschfische und viele andere.
Malawi hat den Ruf, einige der besten Süßwassertauchplätze der Welt zu bieten. Der große Malawisee ist perfekt für Taucher aller Niveaus und besonders geeignet für diejenigen, die ihr Tauchabenteuer beginnen oder neue Fähigkeiten erlernen wollen. Er hat nur sehr wenig Strömung und keinen Wellengang und beherbergt interessante Felsformationen.
Der See ist unerwartet farbenfroh, mit Hunderten von Buntbarscharten, die sich in seinem klaren Wasser tummeln. Der See liegt auf einer Tiefe von 700 m, aber die meisten Tauchgänge finden oberhalb von 20 m statt. Es gibt einige Tauchgänge für Fortgeschrittene, bei denen Tunnel durchschwommen werden, sowie ein durchdringbares Wrack.
Sie werden hier keine Korallenriffe finden, aber Sie werden wahrscheinlich von der Anzahl der bunten Fische in dieser Süßwasserumgebung überrascht sein. Die Tauchplätze sind sowohl vom Ufer als auch vom Boot aus erreichbar.
Als eines der sieben Weltwunder der Unterwasserwelt bieten das Rote Meer und Ägypten Tauchern einige der schönsten Korallenriffe der Welt, eine Fülle von Meereslebewesen und eine große Auswahl an unterschiedlichen Tauchplätzen. Sowohl das nördliche als auch das südliche Rote Meer bieten exzellente Tauchmöglichkeiten, wobei das erstere erstaunliche Wracks wie die weltberühmte SS Thistlegorm und das letztere, einschließlich der Inseln Big Brother, Little Brother und Daedalus, dramatische Begegnungen mit Mantarochen und verschiedenen Haiarten bietet.
Das Rote Meer ist ein großartiges Ziel für Erkundungstouren, sowohl von einem Resort als auch von einer Tauchsafari aus. Tauchresorts befinden sich vor allem in den nördlichen Städten Sharm el Sheikh und Dahab oder den südlichen Städten Hurghada, Safaga und Marsa Alam, doch in der Hochsaison kann es an den küstennahen Riffen sehr voll werden. Das Blue Hole ist zwar der bekannteste Tauchplatz von Belize, aber es gibt noch viel mehr zu entdecken. Das Wasser ist reichhaltig, klar und warm und bietet Anfängern gute Bedingungen und fortgeschrittenen Tauchern einige aufregende Tauchgänge. Die meisten Tauchanbieter auf den Britischen Jungferninseln befinden sich auf Tortola, aber es gibt auch Tauchanbieter auf Virgin Gorda und Jost Van Dyke, Scrub Island und Cooper Island.
Die Tauchplätze rund um die Britischen Jungferninseln bieten atemberaubende Schiffswracks, Seeberge, Korallengärten und sandige Böden. Die einzige Möglichkeit, Cocos Island zu sehen, ist eine Tauchsafari, die Sie in der Hafenstadt Puntarenas in Costa Rica unternehmen können. Tauchsafaris dauern in der Regel mindestens 8 bis 10 Tage und es dauert bis zu 36 Stunden, um Cocos Island von Puntarenas aus zu erreichen.

Die Insel Roatan liegt 30 Meilen vor der Küste von Honduras und beherbergt einige der besten Tauchplätze in der Karibik mit einer Vielzahl von Riffwracks, Höhlen und Steilwandtauchgängen. Utila ist die kleinste der großen Bay Islands und ist weniger entwickelt als Roatan.
